At the end of the Fall 2015 semester, Professor Mercedes Alcalá-Galán was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor.
A specialist in early modern Spanish literature, she is the author of Escritura desatada. Poéticas de la representación en Cervantes (2009) and «La silva curiosa» de Julián de Medrano: estudio y edición crítica (1998), as well as no less than fifty articles in journals and edited volumes. She has also given eighty lectures, seminars and conference presentations around the world, in countries including Algeria, Argentina, England, France, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, Senegal and Spain. Since joining the department in 1998, Professor Alcalá-Galán has distinguished herself as both an inspiring teacher and a creative and very prolific scholar. Congratulations on her richly deserved tenure.
