Professor Paola Hernández awarded IRH fellowship and Vilas Associate Award

Associate Professor Paola Hernández, a specialist in contemporary Latin American theater and performance, recently received a semester-long Resident Fellowship at the Institute for Research in the Humanities, as well as a Vilas Associate Grant, which will provide research support over two summers. Professor Hernández’s winning project, titled Upstaging Reality, Documenting Life in Theatre and Performance in Latin America analyzes the role of the “real” in the theatre and performance of the twenty-first century in Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Colombia, with a view to reevaluating the kinds of truth claims theater can make. The department congratulates Professor Hernández on her double success.
