The May 7th issue of Wisconsin State Journal showcased research of 23 professors in the College of Letters & Sciences who, in words of Dean Karl Scholz, "push the boundaries of scientific knowledge, enhance understanding of the ways societies are organized and governed, and deepen understanding of science and what it means to be human." Spanish & Portuguese Professor Kata Beilin's collaborative research on interface between cultural and biological resistance to genetically engineered crops in the Hispanic World was featured among the chosen scholars.
Andrea Sánchez Vicente, student in the doctoral program in Spanish Linguistics, was awarded the Ray Harris Hispanic Linguistics Scholarship in April of this academic year (2016/2017).
