Spanish

It’s a small world! Learn to talk to other people in it!

My time in Spain also allowed me to develop my own interests and come to appreciate what I love and want to be doing with my life.

I credit UW-Madison for preparing me to develop a well-rounded, people-based approach to language, history and literature.

Spanish language studies have provided me a level of comfort and mastery to conduct business in Latin America.

Students in Spanish classes always seemed more connected than those in my other classes.

The unique challenge of language learning and the experience of rediscovering yourself in another tongue always contributed to an unmatched camaraderie between peers.

People's eyes light up when you speak their native language. A door opens and a new relationship is full of more possibilities and connections than before.

The study of Spanish empowered me to develop life-long relationships, gave me the opportunity to study abroad, led me to further my graduate study of Spanish literature, and helped me meet my wife.

Living or working in the country of the language you are studying is a "must." Only then can you appreciate the culture and fully develop a knowledge of the language.

I really would not be where I am today without my knowledge of the Spanish language.
