Language(s) :
What motivated you to study this/these languages?:

I took Spanish because I was considering pursuing it as a major, and also because I received retrocredits. I took Yoruba on a total whim and fell in love with it! Once aware of the diversity of languages at UW-Madison, I knew I had to try something other than Spanish. So, I picked Yoruba!

How have these languages enriched your life?:

From studying Yoruba, I have gained insight into a whole new culture and language. Struggling through the language and listening to lectures about the Yoruba culture piqued my interest in global culture and led me to pursue International Studies as a major.

What is your favorite word or phrase in a language you know?:
Onijagidijagan (“evil person” in Yoruba)
