Caitlin is a PhD candidate in Spanish Literature and a Teaching Assistant. Her dissertation, “Una Criatura Racional: Scientific Discourse and Female Participation during the Spanish Enlightenment,” relates to how terms of scientific discourse and effects of scientific rhetoric, especially in botanical texts, influenced women’s participation and its reception in public and private spheres in Spanish society during the Enlightenment. Her areas of interest include Modern Peninsular Literature, Visual Culture, Science and Technology Studies, and Gender Studies.
