Estefanía Galindo Navarro is a PhD student in Spanish Linguistics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison). She joined the Department of Spanish & Portuguese at UW-Madison in Fall 2021, where she has worked as a Spanish teaching assistant in intermediate-level language courses as well as a project assistant.
She completed her bachelor’s degree in Foreign Languages at the Universidad del Atlántico in her hometown Barranquilla, Colombia (2018). Besides, she had the opportunity to work as an English teacher for 6 years at the same university. She completed a diploma course in Pedagogy and Didactics of Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language at the Caro y Cuervo Institute in Colombia (2020). She also earned an MA in Spanish Linguistics from UW-Madison in 2023.
Estefanía is a linguist, whose interests range from bilingualism, second language acquisition (SLA), language contact, sociophonetics, phonetics and phonology of languages such as English, French, and mainly Spanish. Nowadays, she is focused on conducting further research on Colombian Caribbean Spanish at the phonetic, phonological, and sociolinguistic levels.
