Vu is a PhD student in Spanish Linguistics. He received his BA in Spanish language and literature from Universidad de Valladolid (Spain) and his MA in Spanish Linguistics here at UW-Madison. He has previously worked as a tour guide and taught English, Spanish, and Vietnamese to children and adults alike in Spain and Vietnam. Witnessing students’ struggle to acquire Spanish tenses and different forms to express the past, along with the goal to facilitate their learning process, propelled him to pursue graduate studies at UW-Madison.

Vu loves learning languages and discussing everything language-related. His research focuses on second language acquisition, particularly how Vietnamese students acquire and use the preterit and imperfect forms, and the tense-mood-aspect system in Spanish.
