Congratulations to Undergraduate Hailey Dickinson – Voyager Scholarship for Public Service

Please join the Department of Spanish & Portuguese in congratulating junior undergraduate Spanish and Political Science major Hailey Dickinson on her Voyager Scholarship for Public Service. Hailey is one of one hundred students (and only the second Badger!) recognized nationwide for her passion for helping others. With the funding provided by this highly-competitive award, Hailey hopes to expand voter education and access, particularly in rural areas. She plans to travel to countries on either end of the civic engagement spectrum to get an idea of what’s working, with the end goal moving towards all communities fully participating in the democratic process.

The Voyager Scholarship Program is a two-year leadership development and scholarship program. Through a transformational combination of barrier-reducing financial aid, an immersive work-travel experience, and a robust network of leaders and mentors, the Voyager Scholarship is designed to inspire, empower, and connect the next generation of leaders and equip them with the tools and resources they need to launch their careers in public service.

Being a self-described “average” student, who has felt discouraged from applying for scholarships in the past, Hailey encourages any student with a passion for serving their community to consider applying for this scholarship.

Once again, congratulations Hailey!
